We don’t need to tell you that perhaps the biggest story of 2020 is the coronavirus pandemic. As you probably have heard, the pandemic has worsened the difficulties faced by our neighbors who have the fewest resources to respond to them right here in Knox County.

HopeNow Furniture Bank of Knox County’s mission of providing basic household furnishings to our neighbors in need has become much more challenging because the virus forces us to think and act in new ways to protect the health and safety of the families we serve. But the virus is a virus and the virus doesn’t care.

Our ability to receive basic household furnishings from the community that supports our work has become much more challenging because the virus forces us to think and act in new ways to protect the health and safety of our generous donors. But the virus is a virus and the virus doesn’t care.

Even though the virus doesn’t care, we do! We found ways to serve those in greatest need while protecting the health and safety of our neighbors, our staff and volunteers and our donors.

We are coming to you again this year during our annual fund drive because we know you care. We know that in a year where more schooling and occupational work occurs in the home, you care that families have a place to gather to share a meal, write reports and create a project. We know that you care that all children have a bed in which to sleep. We know you care that families have something more welcoming to sustain them than four walls.

Please take a moment to read our Community Impact Report (PDF) and make a donation on our website or at HopeNow Furniture Bank on Facebook.

Since the beginnings of HopeNow Furniture Bank of Knox County, folks like you have always been there to to keep us doing the work we do to help our neighbors. We’re trusting that you will be able to answer the call for your support again this year.

Even though the virus is a virus and the virus doesn’t care, we know you do care.

Sincerely,

Lee Rhoads
President of the Board
